5 Different Types of Editing a Video for Social Media.

There are a couple different types of editing for videos. These videos range from raw footage to broadcast style.

  1. Raw Footage– Raw footage is really just plain footage that someone would take on their cell phone or video camera. The video wouldn’t have any edits to it. An example of Raw Footage could be a live cast because there is no edit to it, it’s just there.

  1. Raw Footage w/ Some Edits- Raw footage with some edits is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a combination of videos and pictures put together. An example that comes to my mind is a video/picture montage.

  1.      Edits w/ No Stand-up-Edits with no stand-up are profession edits. They’re put into videos and consist of layers. An example that comes to mind is pretty much the same thing as raw footage with some edits just more professional.

  1.      Reporter Voice (no stand-up) – Reporter Voice (no stand-up) is a news story/package that is completely edited and has interviews, different shots and angles as well as a completed story. The only thing that makes it different from a broadcast style type is that it doesn’t have a stand up in the video. An example that comes to mind is a person on the street piece or a package that is led by the subject.

  1.      Broadcast Style- Reporter Voice (no stand-up) is a news story/package that is completely edited and has interviews, different shots and angles as well as a completed story. The only thing that makes it different from a reporter voice type is that it does have a stand up in the video. There are many examples that range from your local news stations or a national website.
